Welcome to Port Neches-Groves ISD
A TEA "Met Standard" District!
Huntsman Grant Opportunity

PN-GISDáárecently received a $5,000 sustainability grant award from its neighbor, Huntsman Petrochemical LLC. áRidgewood Elementary, Woodcrest Elementary, and Port Neches Elementary campuses are participating in this grant in partnership with ArmorShred in an effort to increase student awareness and understanding about the benefits of recycling. In addition, Ridgewood Elementary will also be planting a fall garden with a portion of the funds with the goal of immersing students in the study of ecology of plant life cycles by participating in the preparation, planting, and harvesting of a variety of fruits and/or vegetables.áá This Sustainability Award came about through Huntsman's "Chief Executive's Award for Innovations in Sustainability"á which recognizes and celebrates innovation in sustainability, reinforces its importance, and promotes continuous improvement.á The Port Neches site received a Highly Commended Award for reducing waste generation at one of its operating units.á As part of the award, Huntsman was able to donate $5,000 to promote Sustainability in the local community.á Mike Miller, Sr. Environmental Manager, stated, "We here at Huntsman see the best fit through our participation with the schools and especially with Port Neches-Groves ISD."
