PN-GISDáTrustees Sign Resolution for Texas Legislative Session

The Port Neches-GrovesáISD School Board approved a resolution outlining their top legislative priorities entering the 2017 Texas Legislative Session. áThe passing of this measure is the latest in a collective effort by superintendents and school boards in Texas to communicate the top areas of interest that stand to impact Texas students.á Click here for the resolution.

A-F Accountability Overview

The 84th Legislature passed HB 2804,áchanging the Texas school accountability system so that every campus and district receives one of the ratings from A-F.á Much like students receive grades in individual subjects and those are combined for a GPA, the law requires schools and districts to be issued grades based on five different areas of performance or "domains," and those five grades must be combined into a single overall rating."á (excerpt from the Texas Education Agency A-F Overview)

Beginning in Spring 2018, each campus and the district will receive a letter grade A-F for each of the following five domains as well as an overall A-F rating.
  • Student Performance
  • Student Progress
  • Closing Performance Gaps
  • Postsecondary Readiness
  • Community & Student Engagement
TEA recently released aápreliminary model of the A-F ratings based on the grade each campus and the district would have received for Domains I-IV for 2015-2016 had the A-F rating system been in place.á This preliminary A-F rating does not impact the official 2016 district of campus accountability rating(s).á
