á Leadership Southeast Texas (LSET) Days at the Capitol á

Dr. Brenda Duhon, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction/Technology, and Mrs. Julie Gauthier, Ridgewood Elementary Principal and City of Port Neches Councilwoman, recently attended LSET Days in Austin at the Capitol.á
LSET (Leadership Southeast Texas) was established in 1992 as a non-profit charitable corporation with a purpose to educate, engage, and inspire leaders as regional citizens by promoting better understanding of strategic issues (economic development, regional unity and quality of life) impacting the nine counties that comprise Southeast Texas, namely Bolivar Peninsula of Galveston County and Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler counties.á Mrs. Gauthier is a 2014 LSET member and Dr. Duhon is a 2015 LSET member.á Duhon, Gauthier, and other LSET delegates were able to address issues impacting SETXáwith elected officials in Austin.

Commissioner Michael Williams visitedáPort Neches-Groves ISDáadministrators during the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) training held at Region 5 ESC in Beaumont.á PN-GISDáis one of approximately 72 districts participating in the evaluation pilot.á The intent of the new evaluation system is to represent a "growth" model where instruments are research-based, expert-developed, and practitioner-informed with multiple indicators of success. Port Neches-Groves ISD teachers and administrators will be given the opportunity to provide valuable feedback to TEA from experiences gained from their participation in the pilotá.
